Badges can be earned in each of the above 20 areas; youth who earn badges in 6 of the 20 areas also receive a “Rockhound” badge.  A “Rock Stars” cloisonné pin is also available to those who earn badges in all 20 areas.  More information about the FRA badge program can be found at:

Text Box: It’s official!  As of August 2012 the MMRC kids have joined the American Federation of Mineral Society’s Future Rockhounds of America (FRA).  The junior club is currently called the Mid-Michigan Rock Pups and will be participating in the FRA’s free badge program which has over 117 individual activities outlined in 20 different areas.  These areas include:

Any youth is welcome to participate in the junior club meetings.  However to participate in the badge program, the youth must be a member of MMRC.  (Go to the Membership Page to find out how to do this!)
